Documentary: Seeking a Safe Haven: DFW Refugee Stories
I directed this film in 2017 and it was produced and edited by five Media Arts students. The film was funded by the Council of Social Work Education and the Division of Institutional Equity & Diversity at UNT. The interviews were conducted by Dr. Hadidja Nyiransekuye (Dept. of Social Work at UNT).
As part of my “Community Media Education” course, teens living in foster care made videos in collaboration with UNT students. Hear their powerful voices & learn the stories of foster teens from Texas.
Students enrolled in my “Digital Activism & Social Literacies” course spend a semester designing and running an activism campaign of their choice. These are some of the creative and powerful videos they have made, some in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Equity and Inclusion and Title IX.
Students in my “Youth Media” and “Digital Media & Society” courses can choose to do a creative project in lieu of a final paper. These are some of their creative videos and projects that have come out of those classes.
